Full-time Tax Compliance Actuary Consultant

We are seeking a talented, dedicated and experienced actuary to join our Life Insurance Division. As a member of the Life Tax Compliance Team, you will master all legal, product and administrative considerations relating to Internal Revenue Code sections 7702A (Seven-Pay/ MEC), 7702 (Definition of Life Insurance), and related policy owner tax and tax-reporting regulations.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing expert advice and technical direction on product tax related matters
- Identifying, avoiding and/or resolving compliance issues
- Balancing case-specific circumstances and regulatory requirements
- Provide guidance and direction towards solutions to processing requirements
- Monitoring and analyzing new product development initiatives and specifications for 7702 and 7702A compliance considerations
- Partnering with the Product Design team to develop creative solutions adjusting product features and/or identifying appropriate implementation strategies
- Providing technical direction and support for developers, analysts and IT management
- Designing and defining business requirements; coordinating and controlling system modification projects related tax laws and regulations
- Identifying compliance weaknesses and associated risks in our systems and administration, and developing appropriate solutions

The ideal candidate for this highly visible role would be an FSA or seasoned ASA with detailed knowledge of the requirements and theoretical / legal underpinnings of Internal Revenue Code sections 7702 and 7702A. In addition, the ideal candidate would have significant familiarity (particularly in the area of highly-funded policies) with life insurance product design, policy administration and illustration systems, and significant experience relating to the management of these issues in the context of in-force blocks of life insurance policies. The candidate will also need very strong spreadsheet development and testing skills - these being required to specify and diagnose detailed calculation logic, and also to evaluate and reconcile alternative calculation regimes in the different illustration and administrative systems. Strong leadership skills are required for project coordination and implementation.
