Full-time Sr. Claims Adjuster

Job Summary

This individual is responsible for the investigation, evaluation (reserving), settlement and/or defense of those workers' compensation claims assigned in a timely, cost effective manner by utilizing the medical, legal and corporate knowledge and resources available. The position will handle lost time workers' compensation claims with an estimated length of disability in excess of fifty two weeks and/or involving catastrophic injuries, such as fatalities, paraplegia, quadriplegia, brain damage, serious burns or disfigurement and complex legal cases, as determined and assigned by the Unit Claims Supervisor.

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required as well as thorough knowledge of Independence Blue Cross Family of Companies policies and procedures. The incumbent must have extensive experience handling Workers' Compensation Claims and a detailed knowledge of Pennsylvania workers' compensation law and claims process. This position requires a thorough understanding of medical and legal issues as well as the litigation process. The incumbent must have excellent analytical skills as well as strong tact, diplomacy and interpersonal skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong leadership and marketing skills are also essential to this position.
