Currently, Chubb is seeking a Loss Control Property & Casualty Risk Engineer in Omaha, NE. The candidate will operate as a remote, home-based worker in Omaha and will be part of the Des Moines, IA branch.

The candidate will provide risk improvement consultation to commercial customers to positively impact the customer's loss ratio and deliver value that influences the insurance buying decision. The primary focus of this position will be the successful execution of consultative based servicing and risk engineering services to clients. The candidate will evaluate complex risks across multiple coverage lines, to include property, liability, workers compensation, and commercial vehicle. In addition, on-site visits of existing and prospective customers will be conducted and comprehensive reports will be completed that evaluate hazards and controls for adequate risk selection, pricing, and application of underwriting techniques leading to profitable growth. The position reports to our Minneapolis Region and will be responsible for work in Nebraska, portions of Iowa, and occasional travel to adjacent states within the Minneapolis Region. The position may require overnight travel, less than 5-10%.

Activities include scheduling, visitation, processing of client correspondence and inquiries, report completion and recommendation follow-up as necessary, coordination with claims and underwriting partners to insure consistent risk selection, high retention and the exceeding of service expectations. The candidate will operate as a remote, home-based worker in Omaha; attached to the Des Moines Branch. This position reports to the Minneapolis Region Loss Control Manager.


Knowledge and Technical Skills:

Qualified candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in employer's liability, property and casualty insurance risk control and loss prevention functions, primarily focused on evaluating hazards and controls. Candidate should possess a comprehensive understanding of property construction, occupancy, protection, and exposures, business interruption exposures and controls, product liability exposures and controls, employer's liability (Stop gap) exposures and controls, commercial vehicle exposures and controls,
This position is responsible for counseling existing and prospective commercial insurance customers in risk improvement. Candidate should demonstrate the technical ability to identify and analyze complex hazards, propose and implement risk improvement strategies and influence/motivate senior management of customers being served.

Candidate needs to have excellent written and oral communication skills including technical report writing and the ability to interview/ask probing questions which are essential for delivering an efficient and productive workflow. Demonstrated initiative, ability to work from a telecommuting office, effective time management and the ability to function both independently and as an integral member of a client service team are essential core competencies. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat required. A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint preferred.

Education:

Four-year college degree with major in sciences or engineering preferred. Possessing relevant professional designations or certifications such as CSP or ARM is highly desirable.
