Full-time AVP, Risk Services

RLI is currently seeking an Assistant Vice President, Risk Services to lead the administration of the company’s actuarial and risk services function. This position is located at corporate headquarters in Peoria, IL.

Key Responsibilities
• Direct and develop the actuarial and risk services team to maximize results.
• Ensure needed data, tools, and information are obtained or developed to meet needs of the department.
• Establish and perform appropriate analysis processes and ensure documentation is accurate.
• Research data to ensure accuracy and completeness within the reserving/pricing data structure.
• Provide actuarial analysis to appropriate internal and external contacts.
• Direct reserve related financial reporting and pricing analysis.
• Lead actuarial evaluation of reinsurance procurement options and recommend optional structure and terms.

Key Competencies

• Ability to use analytical methods in complex actuarial processes to find workable solutions.
• Ability to generate innovative solutions within the actuarial and risk services department.
• Ability to communicate findings and recommendations of complex actuarial risk processes to internal and external contacts in a way that can be understood.
• Ability to manage and develop subordinates to ensure increased performance.
• Ability to use software to summarize and analyze large amounts of data.
• Ability to apply a strategic perspective to improve actuarial risk services functions.
• Ability to possess a results and learning orientation.
• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or related field
• 5 or more years of experience in a similar field or position.
• Prior experience in Commercial Pricing and Reserving
• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) designation.
