Full-time Commercial Underwriter with 4+ Years Exp and Strong Sales Acumen

The Kansas City Branch currently has an opening for a Commercial Insurance Specialty (CIS) Underwriter that can combine underwriting acumen, marketing and business planning skills to execute the CIS business plan.

This Underwriter will be the business owner for CIS in the branch which consists of a $7,000,000 book that spans the State of Kansas and half of the State of Missouri and will be responsible for the following:
• Financial performance of assigned book of business, including profit, growth, retention and rate.
• Executing a new business growth strategy including developing prospects. New business expectation of $1.6MM for 2012.
• Identifying opportunities for growth within new and existing production sources.
• Successful agency and broker management, including building, maintaining and managing producer and customer relationships.
• Developing strategies and continually monitoring progress to ensure the assigned agencies achieve goals relative to profit, growth, retention and rate.
• Utilizing underwriting tools and applying current underwriting strategies to determine which accounts to pursue and the optimal program structure.
• Demonstrating an ability to quickly and appropriately respond to agent's coverage requests and amendments while preserving the integrity of our book of business and our underwriting standards.
• Executing a local strategy to meet business needs and goals utilizing an understanding of Chubb's offerings, competitors, customers and the marketplace.
• Demonstrating the ability for timely, thoughtful and decisive responses when negotiating with the agency plant.
• Working closely and cooperatively with the other members of the commercial underwriting team, including other underwriters, loss control, claims and underwriting associates.
• Working within assigned underwriting authority. When higher levels of authority are necessary, appropriately referring those accounts in a timely and thorough manner.

• Must have 4+ years of commercial multiline underwriting experience
• Experience with complex accounts
• Must have proven marketing and negotiation skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills
• Experience developing marketing plans
