Full-time Senior Underwriter - 5-10 Years of Commercial Underwriting Needed

Chubb is currently seeking a skilled Commercial Lines Underwriter to join our team in Whitehouse Station, NJ.

Position Description:
The Commercial Lines Underwriter will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating renewal and new business accounts in accordance with established underwriting guidelines. The incumbent will manage accounts of all sizes with a focus on mid to large market commercial lines business and be responsible for an $8-9,000,000 book of business. Lines of business include package, automobile, Worker’s compensation and umbrella. The candidate will work closely with Chubb international underwriters and US brokers to coordinate pricing, coverage and terms and conditions as part of a global program. The candidate will provide account management services that will integrate the US coverage into a worldwide insurance program. The incumbent is responsible for managing profit, retention, rate and growth. They will be responsible for conducting renewal review and development of new business for the territory assigned. They must be able to work effectively and collaborate with underwriters, underwriting associates, claims and loss control. The underwriter will be responsible for building relationships with US brokers and international underwriters. The position may require periodic travel. This position affords high visibility with key Home Office Line of Business and Customer Group Managers.

Job Requirements:
The position requires a strong service orientation to facilitate positive relationships with brokers as well as our international colleagues. The candidate should have solid knowledge of commercial underwriting and insurance industry practices. He/she should also demonstrate technical expertise, and specific product knowledge.

Competencies/Technical Skills:
- 5-10 years underwriting US property, package, automobile, worker’s compensation and umbrella
- Experience in pricing large accounts, use of SIR and deductible and working knowledge of Letter of Credit
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively
- Adaptability to change in business environment
- Proven time and desk management skills
- Proven organizational skills
- Experience with handling complex accounts
- Proven technical expertise and product specific knowledge
- Strong (verbal and written) communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills

- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software

Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
