Full-time New Product Design Specialist for Accident & Health - Policy Drafting Experience Needed

Chubb is currently seeking a New Product Design Specialist to join our Accident & Health Team in Whitehouse Station, NJ.

Job Summary:
Chubb is looking for an experienced and innovative accident insurance expert to draft and design insurance policies including accident, travel and other policy forms, as well as revising existing products to help Chubb Accident & Health gain a clear advantage over the competition.

Responsibilities:
• Manage complex drafting assignments and provide technical support to others, including underwriting, marketing and training teams.
• Participate in drafting reviews with the larger New Product Development team, including Underwriting management, Claims, Compliance, Legal and State Filing teams.
• Provide expertise in analyzing proposed product changes requests from the field and Profit Center Managers, defining possible options to support the requested change and clearly identify the impact.
• Write group and individual insurance policies, certificates of coverage and other policy forms for a diverse array of benefits.
• Evaluate, develop and implement revisions to existing products and introduce new products in support of A&H profit centers including Employee Benefits, Special Risk, and Consumer Solutions (Affinity Markets).
• Analyze products and define business objectives for new/changing product; document and deliver findings and recommendations to Zone Underwriting Manager, Profit Center Managers and Zone Officers.
• Advise and consult with customers, brokers and business leaders on issues relating to the content and administration of policy documents.
• Work with State Filings and Compliance to respond to DOI interrogatories.
• Assist with the conceptual planning, implementation and execution of the product launches.
• Be well informed and stay current of the overall marketplace and become a primary competitive intelligence resource for internal staff. This includes research and analysis of competitor products. Determine product opportunities and information that would assist in product planning.
• Keep up to date with new legislation to determine the impact to policy forms by communicating with our internal Compliance and Legal teams.
• Complete all product analyses; and provide detailed information as needed by IT to develop and implement agreed-upon system changes. Makes sure approved forms are put into the applicable systems properly, proofread and tested.
• Serve as the division's subject matter expert supporting Underwriting, Sales, Marketing and IT teams as appropriate, so that the individual areas of responsibility can be effectively delivered and that the introduction of the resulting product or change supports the intended Underwriting strategy.
• Support the division's dedicated Learning and Development Manager in the development of insurance related product training materials.



Knowledge & Skills:
• Industry experience is mandatory. The candidate must have in-depth accident product knowledge to help design new policy forms for our group and individual markets. Should also have experience with insurance contracts, forms construction and state compliance requirements.
• The ideal candidate must have experience in Accident and Health and/or Life. Having Property and Casualty experience is a plus. A background in accident underwriting and/or claims is helpful.
• Must have experience dealing with the various state requirements that pertain to policy forms to help identify required provisions by state, preparing forms (e.g. amendatory endorsements, notices, application supplements).
• Demonstrated track record in effective project management and coordinating efforts across organizational lines.

• Self-motivated, driven individual with the ability to work collaboratively with interdependent resources (Claims, Legal, Compliance, Underwriting, Actuarial, State Filings, etc.) as well as independently.

• Strong verbal and written communications skills; capable of interacting effectively with senior Underwriting managers, Profit Center heads and other internal or external managers and/or vendors.
• Ability to exert strong interpersonal influence.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to communicate a vision and purpose.
• PC skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes databases.
• Experience with database research platforms


Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Insurance expertise in Group Accident & Health products
